Making a difference together
We are FundraisingBox,
a smart and passionate team dedicated to developing innovative ideas that help non-profit organizations around the world collect and manage donations more efficiently, digitally, and effortlessly.
We work closely with our customers and take pride in their success stories. Our goal is to be a reliable partner and advisor, using our expertise to support and guide them through digitalization.
What FundraisingBoxhas achieved and will continue to achieve is thanks to the entire team. Thank you, Wikandos!"
Our vision …
is a world where everyone actively contributes to addressing the most pressing social, socio-political, and environmental challenges through their personal and professional actions.
Thanks to state-of-the-art technologies, aid reaches its destination quickly, safely, and transparently—whether in response to catastrophic events, social movements, or important projects. This helps tackle global challenges such as poverty, environmental issues, migration, and human and animal rights. Organizations can easily gain visibility for their causes, inspire supporters and advocates, and effectively realize their projects to make the world a better place.
Our mission…
is to empower non-profits to use innovative communication and fundraising strategies to attract enthusiastic supporters and make it as easy as possible for people to support their work.
Digitalization introduces new challenges and uncertainties. That’s why we assist non-profits with their digital transformation. We aim to encourage NGOs to automate their processes and make data-driven decisions. By doing so, we lighten the load on NGO teams, allowing them to focus on what truly matters: fulfilling their mission.

Our story
It all began in 2007. After a 6-month backpacking trip around the world, filled with adventures and valuable insights into the work of non-profit organizations in developing countries, Mirjam and Peter decided to found a social tech company aimed at digitizing the social world. They launched a charity platform called “Wikando – Erlebe Engagement” (Wikando – Experience Engagement) in 2008. This platform enabled non-profits, companies, and individuals to connect, search for and find (corporate) volunteering opportunities, as well as to collect donations (in kind) online. Rainer, who was also involved in this development, joined nearly from the start.
Initially the platform was financed by companies that showcased their social commitment (CSR) on the platform. The number of profiles and registered aid organizations on the platform grew rapidly. However, with the financial crisis in 2009, companies struggled and faced significant challenges than showing social commitment to the public. The anticipated revenue stream was therefore no longer available.
A new opportunity emerged. Non-profits were impressed by the platform and requested to integrate its features into their own websites. Around the same time, other founders in Germany were also pursuing social ideas. Through social camps and think tanks, there was a creative and valuable exchange, leading to a merger between Wikando and Helpedia. Helpedia, co-founded by Thomas, was Germany’s first fundraising platform, also aimed at bringing the non-profit sector into the online world.
The growing Wikando team had developed diverse expertise. They brought similar market experience and quickly aligned on a future vision. The goal was to focus exclusively on non-profits, addressing their needs with a B2B approach to digital fundraising and services. This led to the creation of FundraisingBox in July 2010—a comprehensive fundraising solution that spans from fundraising to donation management, designed to meet the demands of a connected world.
The ongoing development of Wikando was influenced by the evolving needs of non-profits, as well as by the changing needs of the Wikando team. With new topics like family planning and remote work becoming relevant, the founders decided in 2012 to restructure Wikando as a fully remote, distributed team. This embrace of New Work became a cornerstone of our corporate philosophy, which continues to be upheld today. The first three remote locations were Augsburg, Frankfurt, and Berlin.
Since then, the FundraisingBox has evolved considerably. The fundraising market has matured, digitalization has increased, the remote team has grown, and the founding team—now the management team—has changed. Wikando has transformed into a company that no longer just offers software but also provides a wide range of digital solutions for non-profits.
